The Guild

We meet at 7:00 pm, the first Tuesday of the month at the USS Constitution Museum and via Zoom for a short business session followed by a lively “show and tell” during which members demonstrate current projects or techniques, and occasionally we are treated to a guest speaker.  Some of our members build and restore models professionally, many are amateurs who have built a few kits for their own pleasure, and others are new to the craft.   In addition to our monthly meetings the Guild takes part in the annual meeting of model clubs from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We also attend the biennial Woods Hole Model Boat Show.

The USS Constitution Museum

The Guild enjoys a warm association with the Museum.  We maintain a working model shop in which volunteer members demonstrate ship modeling to visitors and in which we keep our extensive library of modeling books and plans.  The Museum and Guild co-sponsor an annual ship model exhibit and competition timed to coincide with the local winter school vacation.  For more information about the Museum visit their website.

Parking

Due to continued parking limitations within the Navy Yard, the Museum only has access to 20 spaces for after-hours use. Under current regulations, to use them, your name and automobile registration information must be on the Museum’s official Parking List. That list must be updated and refiled with the Park Service each month. If you’re not on the list, the Guild’s current recommendation is to park in the Nautica Parking Garage on Constitution Road. Please contact the Guild for registration information.

I built my first model as a child and ever since I’ve had an interest in all things nautical.  Joining the Guild provided me an expansive network of knowledge.
