Our members come from all walks of life and build an equally diverse range of models – contemporary and historic; naval, commercial, and pleasure craft; American and foreign. We build kit or scratch in wood, plastic, metal, resin, and card stock. Models vary in size and range in scale from a few inches to many feet in length.

I became a member of the guild because I like miniatures including ship models. I grew up watching my father build models and have one of my own underway. Though I’m not a very active builder I joined because I respect and appreciate all the fine work members are doing and want to do what I can to see these skills continue.

Tom Lauria discusses how the Guild helped him solve a modeling problem.
At any Guild meeting, there are usually about 40 people in the room. Some have been involved in building models for decades. That means at every meeting, there is about 1,000 years of ship modeling experience in that room. If you have a question or problem, the answer is very likely sitting in the chair next to you.
